(Gray News) – The Kansas City Chiefs and Hallmark are teaming up for a new Christmas movie.
“Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” starts filming in July and will be filmed entirely at Kansas City, Missouri, locations, including Arrowhead Stadium.
“By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community’s spirit, rich traditions and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way,” said Darren Abbott, Chief Brand Officer, Hallmark.
In “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” Alana Higman, played by Hunter King, is a finalist in the Kansas City Chiefs’ “Fan of the Year” contest. The team’s Director of Fan Engagement Derrick, played by Tyler Hynes, is tasked with evaluating how Higman stacks up against the other two finalists, according to a statement by the team. As the two spend time together, a love story between the pair unfolds.
The Kansas City Chiefs said the film marks the “ultimate celebration” between the team and Hallmark, both based in Kansas City, Missouri.
“There is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations,” Abbott said.
Chiefs President Mark Donovan said the team is “honored” to partner with Hallmark in the film.
“This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season,” he said.
“Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” will premiere on Hallmark Channel during its 15th annual Countdown to Christmas programming event later this year.
Some speculate that the real-life love story between Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift may have sparked the idea for the film.
The couple was first spotted together when Swift attended a Chiefs game in September 2023.
Swift has since attended several Chiefs games, including Super Bowl LVII when the team won its fourth Super Bowl.
Kelce has been seen supporting Swift at several of her Eras Tour shows and recently made his Eras Tour debut in London when he participated in a skit with Swift and two of her backup dancers.
