There appears to be a good romance between renowned Malaysian designer duo Rizman Ruzaini and singer-actress Lady Gaga, who was spotted in a custom made red gown during a recent Las Vegas show.
Known for their intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail, the duo comprising Rizman Nordin and Ruzaini Jamil had a sparkly creation for the singer, courtesy of Swarovski gems. The design duo is also revered in Malaysia in the couture and bridal space, reported Malay Mail on Monday (Jun 24).
In an interview with Malaysian entertainment outlet Gempak, Rizman shared that the collaboration with Lady Gaga started after British supermodel Naomi Campbell wore one of their designs during their fashion show in Dubai last year.
That dress is now displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London in an exhibition celebrating Campbell’s career, making Rizman Ruzaini the first Malaysian designer to have their creations showcased at the prestigious institution.

Rizman had told Gempak that they received calls from Hollywood agencies – including one from a stylist working with Lady Gaga and Beyonce – two days after Campbell modelled their design.
He then started designing Lady Gaga’s dress with the measurement provided by the agency, adding that foreign celebrities would normally wear dresses designed by “up-and-coming designers for smaller events such as dinner shows”.
“We sent the dress to the agency in charge of Lady Gaga’s dresses early this year. The initial plan was for the dress to be worn only during dinner shows,” Rizman had said.
“But when it arrived there, Lady Gaga wanted to keep it and wear it for a grander event. She said the design was too grand for dinner shows.”

Rizman Ruzaini posted an Instagram reel on Saturday documenting their behind-the-scenes process from creating the gown to Lady Gaga’s eventual performance at her Las Vegas residency.
In another Instagram post, the design duo said: “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”
Malay Mail also reported that supermodel Campbell had also worn a Rizman Ruzaini creation on the red carpet of Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah last December.
And according to The Star, Malaysian celebrities from Ziana Zain to Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Erra Fazira are among the label’s clients.
At this year’s Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, Malaysian squash superstar Datuk Nicol David attended the event wearing a Rizman Ruzaini design as well.
