The No.1 women’s tennis player was overwhelmed by Swift’s gesture
Safe to say that Iga Swiatek has had a week she won’t soon forget.
After winning her fourth career French Open title, the No.1 women’s tennis player in the world followed that up by seeing one of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts.
However, the excitement didn’t end there for Swiatek, as on Friday she shared a photo of a letter she received from Swift while at the show, which moved her to tears.
“I’m dead. Yes, I cried many times during the show. Yes, it was incredible. You are amazing @taylorswift13,” Swiatek wrote on her X profile.
To say Swiatek is a fan of Swift’s work would be an understatement. Last month she talked about Swift’s latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
“I like it,” said Swiatek. “I would say there are seven songs that I really like. I made a playlist of all of them.
“I know Taylor wouldn’t approve of me listening to only some of them, but I have my picks.”
When asked about the playlist, Swiatek stumbled through the titles, and then asked Taylor Swift fans not to come at her for the faux pas.
“Now I’m going to get hate that I don’t remember titles and I’m not a real Swiftie,” Swiatek sighed. “I’m sorry, guys. I’m not the best kind of Swiftie, but… Don’t judge me!”
Swiatek has been dominant on the court
Although Swiatek stumbled while remembering some song titles, she hasn’t stumbled while doing what she does best: playing tennis on the court.
Her French Open victory was her fourth in the past five years. She also won the 2022 U.S. Open and was a semifinalist at the Australian Open that same year.
She will be hoping that form extends to the one Grand Slam that has given her problems so far in her career, Wimbledon. The tournament starts next month and she has failed to advance past the quarterfinals at the All England Club in her career.
