From NFL commercials to film production
Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ tight end, is not just making waves on the football field, but also in Hollywood. In an exclusive update to People, Kelce revealed his post-NFL plans to transition into acting and producing. His foray into the entertainment industry has already left a lasting impression.
During the 2023 NFL season, Kelce appeared in a staggering 375 game-time commercials, surpassing all other celebrities, as reported by USA Today. His venture into film production is also gaining momentum, with his first two projects either completed or in progress.
Kelce’s debut as a producer, “My Dead Friend Zoe,” premiered at SXSW to rave reviews and holds a rare 100 percent “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The war comedy-drama features renowned actors Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman and is slated for release later this year. Additionally, Kelce is lending his producing expertise to an upcoming documentary about artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, titled “King Pleasure.”
Despite his burgeoning success in entertainment, Kelce remains focused on football, stating, “My primary focus is still football. Whatever I’m able to squeeze into the off-season, though, I’m happy to do so.” He expressed his enthusiasm for delving into the entertainment world before fully committing to football, emphasizing his genuine interest in the entertainment space.
Kelce’s schedule is jam-packed as he prepares for the upcoming NFL season. He shared with People, “It doesn’t feel like there’s much chill in my life. Everything seems to be full throttle and just moving at the speed of light, and that’s how I kind of like it. I like it to be up-pace. I like to have just exciting things going on.”
In addition to his entertainment pursuits, Kelce is gearing up for Kansas City’s second-annual Kelce Jam, a music festival featuring performances from renowned artists such as Lil Wayne, Diplo, and 2 Chainz. Describing the event as “an amazing opportunity,” Kelce is set to showcase his passion for music alongside his endeavors in Hollywood.
As Kelce continues to make strides in both football and entertainment, he exemplifies a multi-faceted approach to his career, embracing diverse opportunities and experiences beyond the gridiron.
