One of the biggest fan conventions in the entire country is getting started in Orlando. More than 150,000 people are expected to attend this year’s Megacon, held at the Orange County Convention Center.
ORLANDO, Fla. – It’s big, it’s flashy, and it’s bringing in hundreds of thousands.
MEGACON Orlando is back – and the 2024 celebrity lineup is sure to be a big draw for comic, sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming fans across the country. The annual convention is scheduled to be held at the Orange County Convention Center from Feb. 1-4.
Single-day tickets and four-day passes are still available for purchase online.
FOX 35’s John Brown spoke with Sarah Natochenny, who provides the voice of Ash Ketchum, a character in the Pokémon franchise. Natochenny is visiting Orlando for Megacon 2024.
Attendee Zoe Jiménez said she spent three hours on her cosplay and makeup for the event.
"Everyone literally wowed me, like my eyes pop when I see people's costumes," said Jiménez.
"It's such a big community, and I love it. I love how united we are, and we'll just talk to random strangers, and they'll just keep the conversation going," said another attendee, Naty Abrams.
Megacon is bringing in an estimated 150,000 people. Film, TV, comic book fanatics can rejoice!
Abrams and her beau, Jose Valdes are in town from Puerto Rico. The pair says they met at a convention in their home country a few years back and come to events like this to rekindle their love.
Valdes said, "There is something for everyone. You like superheroes? You’ve got Batman, Superman, Flash." He went on to say, "You get so much."

Some people are taking advantage of the heavy crowds to promote their small businesses. Matt Morrison, owner of Legion Sabers, owns a business that certainly fits the theme of the weekend.
"We sell lightsabers that are battle-ready, so they have gesture controls, and you can change the color on them."
For the bravest thrill seekers, there is even a haunted walk-through to break up the day.
"You know what the best part is? These are the events that we grew up with, everything we wanted to do as kids but now are doing as adults," said attendee John Rogger.
MEGACON announced Tuesday that the cast of Entourage – Adrian Grenier, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon, and Kevin Connolly – will make their convention debut to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the comedy-drama TV series. Besides Entourage, there are dozens of familiar faces set to speak at panels, take selfies with fans, and sign autographs at one of North America's largest conventions.
