Cardi B Confirms She's Cousins With This Famous Rapper – The Root

When Black people say someone is their cousin, we don’t always necessarily mean we’re blood relations. However, for two of rap’s biggest stars, it turns out they actually are family.

Finding out two celebrities are unexpectedly related isn’t exactly new. From RuPaul and Cory Booker, to Viola Davis and Mike Colter, to Janelle Monae and Marsai Martin, Black Hollywood is full of surprising relatives. Of course, that doesn’t make it any less shocking when we hear about these discoveries.
Back in October 2022, while discussing their collaboration on “Tomorrow 2,” GloRilla revealed that she and Cardi B are cousins.
“I ain’t got a lot of friends, and I’m easy to deal with. Cardi is my cousin. I was so happy and excited during the whole creative process,” she told NME. “Cardi is a really sweet soul [with] such a genuine heart, and we come from a similar background, so it was easy to connect. And it was crazy when ‘Tomorrow 2’ hit the charts. I was like, ‘Ah! Ain’t nobody knew about me a couple of months ago!’”
Now, the “WAP” artist is confirming Glo’s family tale. While appearing on “Big Boy’s Neighborhood,” the Grammy winner offered up details on exactly how they’re related.

“A lot of people don’t know this, my grandfather, he used to push weight and everything and there was this one time that he lived in Tennessee and whatever,” Cardi said. “He really told my grandma that he was dealing with somebody over there and then he had a kid out there and you know like, that’s GloRilla’s dad.”
The “Invasion of Privacy” rapper explained that when the women started bonding and noticed certain similarities, they became curious about their connection. Considering how much they bonded while working together, it will be interesting to see if we get more collaborations from the two artists.
As it turns out, Cardi is not GloRilla’s only famous relative. During a recent appearance on the “Past Your Bedtime” podcast, the “F.N.F.” rapper revealed that she’s also related to Lil Uzi Vert, saying, “That’s my cousin. That’s my real cousin.”
Looks like hip-hop runs in the family for GloRilla.
