Bronx rapper Cardi B confirmed on Instagram Live she has officially split from her husband Offset.
“I’ve been single for a minute now,” the “WAP” said on a live video Sunday night.
The 31-year-old Washington Heights native claimed she’d been thinking about making her breakup public for a while, but wasn’t sure how to best address the topic. She alluded to “clues” she dropped on social media, like her and Offset unfollowing on each other online, that may have tipped fans to her current status.
“I want to start 2024, like, fresh, open,” she said Sunday. “I’m curious for a new life. A new beginning. I’m excited.”
Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus, was raised between Washington Heights and the South Bronx. She and offset married in 2017. They have two children together.
Rapper Blueface accused Offset of having an affair with performer Chisean Rock, which Offset firmly denied on X Sunday. Offset accused his wife of infidelity in June, then retracted that allegation.
Cardi B didn’t elaborate on the reason she and Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, called it quits. One of the clues she posted online last week seems to offer some indication a formal split was imminent.
“You know when you just outgrow relationships,” she posted.
Cardi B filed for divorce in September 2020, but decided to stay with Offset despite “irreconcilable differences,” according to People. The case was dismissed in November. Cardi B claimed on social media her husband proved to her at the time they could make things work.
“If I want to go to an extreme to teach a n—a f—ing lesson and f—ing file for divorce, I could do that,” she said.
