Hubert Humphrey was born in Wallace, South Dakota on May 27, 1911. From 1965 t0 1969, he served as the 38th vice president of the United States. In addition to being a politician, Hubert Humphrey was also a well-respected pharmacist.
2. Shawn Colvin
Shawn Colvin, a singer, songwriter, and musician, was born in Vermillion, South Dakota on January 10, 1956. She’s best known for her hit song “Sunny Came Home,” which won her a Grammy Award in 1998.
3. Charles Gemar
Charles Gemar is a former NASA astronaut who was born in Yankton, South Dakota on August 4, 1955. He has flown on three Space Shuttle missions.
