This Lady’s gone gaga over a small-town guy.
Forget the glitz, glamour, and especially the paparazzi, Lady Gaga’s future husband is more hometown heartthrob than Hollywood hunk.
Two months before they got engaged, the 28-year-old “Bad Romance” singer and beau Taylor Kinney showed up at a tiny church near his hometown of Lancaster, Pa.
The star couple, in town to attend the baptism of Kinney’s nephew, kept a low profile inside the Grandview United Methodist Church in Manheim Township.
“They were trying not to get noticed,” the Rev. Mike Alleman told the Daily News Wednesday. “They didn’t want to make it about them.”
Many in the small Pennsylvania town, about 70 miles west of Philadelphia, where Kinney grew up, recalled the future Mr. Gaga as friendly and unassuming.
A handsome Kinney, 33, is described as “Carefree, Goofy and Committed” in his Lancaster Mennonite School Yearbook.
“I have really good memories of him,” said Miles Yoder, an acting superintendent who was an associate principal when Kinney attended the school from 1997 to 2000. “He was somebody who was very friendly. Everybody liked him, his classmates.”
Kinney was a volleyball star, more known as the school’s lead spiker than as a thespian.
His rise as a model and later as Navy SEAL Jared in “Zero Dark Thirty” and Lt. Kelly Severide in “Chicago Fire” was a pleasant surprise for the folks back home.
“He’s our most famous alumni,” Yoder said of the town of about 70,000. “It was kind of unexpected that he would be that kind of level of star.”
And Kinney’s starpower is set to rise even higher with his engagement to Gaga, a Manhattan native whose real name is Stefani Germanotta.
The pair got engaged on Valentine’s Day after dating for four years.
David Miller, 75, who lives on the same street as Kinney’s mother, was elated to hear the news.
“Wait ’til I tell my wife, ‘Guess who lives right here? Lady Gaga’s future-mother-in-law,’” Miller quipped.
Gaga was raised in the affluent Upper West Side. But she fit right in at the small town church service in December, neighbors said.
“When the service ended, they left through a side door,” Alleman said. “They were really very polite.”
The Dec. 28 service was unforgettable for Liz Fulmer, a 24-year-old local musician who plays piano at the church.
A huge Gaga fan, Fulmer was wracked by nerves before she sang an original song called, “He is Coming.”
Afterward, she told The News, her phone lit up with a text from Gaga.
“Hey Liz, It’s Lady Gaga,” the text read. “You are sensational. Keep up the good work.”
