Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have teamed up again for their new single “Bongos” — a follow-up to their 2020 hit “W.A.P.”
The Grammy-winning rappers announced the new track via Instagram on Monday (Sept. 4), captioned with the release date, set for Friday (Sept. 8).
Cardi also revealed that the track will be available with a limited-edition CD single on her Instagram Story.

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper released “W.A.P.” with the Houston Hottie three years ago. The song went on to receive mixed reviews for its explicit lyrics, which some felt were actually empowering.
In a 2020 interview with GQ, Meg explained the motivation behind the song, as it received some negative feedback.
“Some people just don’t know what to do when a woman is in control and taking ownership of her own body,” she said. “I feel like for a long time men felt like they owned sex and now women are saying, ‘Hey, this is for me. I want pleasure. This is how I want it or don’t want it,’ it freaks men the hell out. It just comes from a place of fear and insecurity, like why would anyone be mad about my WAP? It belongs to me.”

Cardi also spoke on the song in the same year during Billboard’s Woman of the Year award event.

“I’m just grateful and thankful that the song that I actually did put out this year, which was ‘WAP,’ featuring Megan Thee Stallion, not only was it an amazing song that broke so many records, but it was a conversation that I never thought was going to be so big,” she said. “It pissed off a whole bunch of Republicans for no reason. It was just weird.”
“Bongos” follows Cardi and Offset’s recent single, “Jealousy” and Megan Thee Stallion’s 2022 track, “Ungrateful” with Key Glock.
Megan Thee Stallion also released her sophomore album, Traumazine, the same year.
