Former President Donald Trump threw himself into the Super Bowl conversation on Sunday by saying there was “no way” singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who is expected to appear at the big game featuring her NFL player boyfriend Travis Kelce, could endorse President Joe Biden.
In a post to Truth Social, Trump claimed that he struck a chord with Swift in 2018 when he signed legislation into law that sought to close “loopholes” in digital royalty laws to help artists, producers, and others get paid for their work in the music industry.

“I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists. Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will,” Trump said.
Trump quipped that there was “no way” Swift could endorse Biden, whom he described as corrupt, “and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money.” He added, “Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis, even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me!”
Some in Trump’s “MAGA” camp have speculated that Swift got into a relationship with Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, as part of a political scheme or “op” in which the music star might endorse Biden during the Super Bowl or in the months that follow.
Swift has yet to back a candidate in the 2024 contest, but she did endorse Biden in the run-up to the 2020 election.
At the time, she posted to X a photo of herself holding a plate of cookies decorated to show support for Biden and now-Vice President Kamala Harris and she explained her decision in an interview with V Magazine.
I spoke to @vmagazine about why I’ll be voting for Joe Biden for president. So apt that it’s come out on the night of the VP debate. Gonna be watching and supporting @KamalaHarris by yelling at the tv a lot. And I also have custom cookies 🍪💪😘

“The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included,” Swift said.

“Everyone deserves a government that takes global health risks seriously and puts the lives of its people first. The only way we can begin to make things better is to choose leaders who are willing to face these issues and find ways to work through them,” she added.
“I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs,” Swift said.
