Pop singer-songwriter Halsey owns the Hot 100 singles chart this week with her cut “Without Me,” which rises to the peak for the first time this frame. The musician has previously scored a No. 1 hit, but only as a featured act, so this most recent achievement marks her first stint at the top on her own.
Halsey’s incoming chart leader pushes Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” off the throne, cutting its time at the top off at seven weeks, though it’s worth mentioning that the song has been replaced at the highest of heights before, only to ascend once again. Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” which currently ranks at No. 4, once replaced “Thank U, Next” for just one week, but Grande was able to reconquer the chart when the song’s music video arrived.
In between “Thank U, Next” and “Sicko Mode” this week is Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower,” which rises to a new high point of No. 3. The song was created specifically for the new animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and it continues to perform better and better as time goes on.
Panic! at the Disco’s “High Hopes” returns to its No. 5 peak, while Marshmello and Bastille’s “Happier” also lifts once again to No. 6.
The final four songs that take up real estate inside the top 10 on the Hot 100 all return to the region after being pushed out by Christmas songs, many of which benefitted immensely from increased radio play and streams during the weeks leading up to (and including) the holiday. Now that the season has come and gone and there is room once more, these smashes can chart well again.
Maroon 5 and Cardi B’s former No. 1 smash “Girls Like You” is up to No. 7, followed by Lil Baby and Gunna’s “Harder Than Ever” at No. 8, Kodak Black, Travis Scott and Offset’s “ZEZE” at No. 9 and finally, Post Malone’s “Better Now” in last place.
