Disney Wins Streaming Rights To Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Movie — And Sets Date For Launch – Forbes

Billionaire Taylor Swift announced the film version of her Eras Tour concert movie—“Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)”—will be available to stream next month on Disney+, marking a big win for the streaming platform.

Swift announced the film would be on Disney+ in a post on Instagram Wednesday afternoon that said she was “thrilled” to announce she’d “found a streaming home for The Eras Tour Concert Film.”
Disney CEO Bob Iger also announced the news Wednesday in Disney’s earnings call and said in a statement to the New York Times that the film was “electrifying” and “a true phenomenon.”
The film will be available to stream on March 15.
Swift also announced the streaming version will show the entire concert for the first time and include four additional songs from the acoustic sets in which she performs surprise songs.
$261 million. That’s how much Swift’s Eras Tour movie had in worldwide box office sales during its limited run last fall, according to BoxOfficeMojo.
We estimate Swift—who became a billionaire in October in part due to the worldwide success of her Eras Tour—to be worth $1.1 billion as of Wednesday.

Swift’s Eras Tour concert film has been available to rent on demand since Dec. 13 for $19.89, though when Swift announced that there was no mention of where the film would permanently live. Swift had previously worked with Netflix—which houses her documentary, “Miss Americana,” and formerly her Reputation tour concert film—and Disney+, which has “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.” The Eras Tour film was available to rent through both Amazon Prime and Apple TV, introducing two other potential streaming options. Swift didn’t work with any studio when the film hit theaters, rather, she distributed it through AMC Theatres.
In its first weekend alone, the Eras Tour movie cemented its place as the highest-grossing concert film, beating out the $73 million lifetime gross of the “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” movie from 2011 and the $72 million “This Is It” film from Michael Jackson.
