We usually think of Lady Gaga setting — not following — trends.
But apparently there are some trends that are pretty hard to resist — and that includes being a glamorous female star looking to the tech world for dating and marriage opportunities.
Over Super Bowl weekend, Gaga went public with her latest relationship. The new man in the singer’s life is San Francisco-based tech investor Michael Polansky, People and other outlets reported.
The 33-year-old Grammy and Oscar winner in fact made the relationship Instagram official by posting a photo of the two of them, cuddling. Her caption reads, “We had so much fun in Miami. Love to all my little monsters and fans, you’re the best!”

Indeed, a source told People that the couple “weren’t shy about showing off PDA” during Super Bowl weekend. “They seemed very happy together,” the source said, adding that the two met through mutual friends.
Gaga and Polansky were spotted sharing “a passionate kiss” on a balcony in Miami on Saturday, ahead of her AT&T TV Super Saturday Night concert, People reported. The couple also were photographed Sunday night, leaving Hard Rock Stadium after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers.
Rumors that Gaga had a new relationship emerged on Dec. 30 when she and Polansky, 36, were photographed kissing at a steakhouse in Las Vegas, where the pop star has two residencies, “Enigma” and “Lady Gaga: Jazz & Piano,” People said.
Polansky, a 2006 Harvard grad in applied mathematics and computer science, works with Sean Parker, the co-founder of Napster and Facebook, on various ventures, according to his LinkedIn page. These include the Parker Foundation, which was launched in 2015 and supports philanthropic efforts in life sciences, global public health, civic engagement and the arts, according to the foundation’s website. Polansky also sits on the board of the San Franciso-based Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, which sponsors research for cancer treatment.
By dating Polansky, Gaga appears to be trying to change things up and date someone outside her show business world.
Certainly, the past year has been a whirlwind of romance, rumors and acclaim for Gaga. Up until last February, she was engaged to talent agent Christian Carino. Gaga and Carino made some red carpet appearances together during the 2019 movie awards season as she promoted”A Star is Born,” as well as accepted honors for her acting and songwriting for the film.
But Gaga broke off the engagement just before the 2019 Academy Awards. Meanwhile, she and her “A Star is Born” co-star, Bradley Cooper, spent months at the center of rumors and speculation that they had fallen in love during the film’s production.
Their romantic chemistry was evident when they performed their hit duo “Shallow” at the 2019 Oscars ceremony. But Gaga insisted that the off-screen romantic vibes she and Cooper gave off was a performance and that the two had always been just colleagues and good friends.
By summer, Gaga showed she had moved on from Carino when she was linked to sound engineer Daniel Horton after the pair were photographed kissing during a brunch date in Los Angeles.

Gaga isn’t the first rich and famous female star to be intrigued by men from the tech world — who often are considered to be stars in their own industry. As the tabloid The Sun said in 2017, Silicon Valley has become a new celebrity central “as moguls and social media barons take over from film stars and sportsmen not just on rich lists, but as alpha men.”
“Ever since Steve Jobs made computers cool and millennials started living online, nerds are king,” The Sun added. “Being a co-founder of a company is this decade’s equivalent to being a rock star or a chef.”
They also tend to have plenty of money of their own. Tennis champion Serena Williams married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in 2017, and former Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr found her Prince Charming in Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel, also marrying him in 2017.
Other famous women have dabbled in tech-world romances. Amber Heard dated Tesla CEO Elon Musk — before he found love with the singer Grimes, and Emma Watson dated William “Mack” Knight, a manager for a Palo Alto-based tech company, for two years. Then in 2018, the “Harry Potter” actress reportedly turned her attention to Brendan Wallace, a Los Angeles-based, 37-year-old tech CEO with a Stanford MBA.
