Cardi B is never one to stay silent when it comes to speculation over her career and personal life, but she did hold her tongue when it came to rumors of Offset cheating on her with Saweetie.
The Grammy-winner didn’t speak out when social media ran with the narrative that an Offset-Saweetie affair led to the Migos‘ split last year, which was sparked by Quavo’s lyrics on “Messy.”

During an appearance on the newly-launched The Jason Lee Podcast, Cardi explained why she didn’t “entertain” the topic at the time, saying she didn’t want to feed into the rumors.
“You know why I was quiet?” she said. “I was quiet because one thing I’m gonna do, I’m gonna find out the truth. And you know that I was finding out that truth.
“So, it’s like, if I entertain something that I know is not true, on the internet, people be like, ‘Oh, it is true because you’re addressing it.’ But when I don’t address it, it’s true or not, as well.”

Cardi continued: “So, I’m like, you know what? I’m just not gonna entertain the bullshit, because if I entertain it, it’s gonna keep goin’ longer and longer. At the end of the day, I know what’s going on in my house.
“So, it’s like, I have learned from those experiences not to even address things that’s going on in my home. When I know the truth. ‘Cause it’s like, people gonna make it worse, ’cause it’s just entertainment.”
Cardi B did, however, dispel the Offset and Saweetie cheating rumors during a heated back-and-forth with a Twitter troll in August 2022.
“No baby you lying,” she wrote after the user accused of her “blatantly lying” about her husband’s alleged infidelity. “You makin crazy lies starting shit and putting female rappers in it WIT NO RECEIPTS, no blog ever spoke on this all of a sudden you come out of jail 5 days ago and you made up for lied in 2 hours wit NO RECEIPTS!”

The Offset-Saweetie narrative exploded last October when Quavo, who dated the “Icy Grl” star for over two years until their split in March 2021, seemingly alluded to the affair on “Messy,” from his Only Built For Infinity Links album with TakeOff (who was shot and killed just weeks after the project’s release).
However, some fans speculated that he may have been referring to fellow Atlanta rapper Lil Baby, who was romantically linked to Saweetie in late 2021.

“Bitch fucked my dog behind my back, but I ain’t stressin’ (Not at all) / You wanted the gang, you shoulda just said it, we would have blessed it (You shoulda just said it) / Now shit got messy (Uh),” Quavo rapped on the song.
Saweetie seemingly responded to her ex-boyfriend’s claim the following month on “Don’t Say Nothin,'” which contained lines like: “Post a pic in his sweatshirt, I bet it have my ex hurt / That’s what I get for kissin’ on these frogs / He got mad and told my business to the blogs.”

Her apparent response was criticized due to the fact it arrived shortly after TakeOff’s tragic murder, with Joe Buddentelling her to “shut the fuck up” during an episode of his eponymous podcast.
But as Saweetie suggested in an Instagram video weeks later, she wasn’t even talking about Quavo or Lil Baby on the song.

“Ain’t nobody dissing nobody,” she clarified. “When I went on Caresha Please, I told y’all, whoever’s on ‘Don’t Say Nothin,’ whoever that messaging was towards, it wasn’t toward nobody.
“Ain’t nobody dissing them boys, so you can kill them rumors and kill that because y’all don’t even know who I’m talking about.”
