Just because you do the do, doesn’t mean one plus one equals two. For Cardi B, this might be the makings of her next chart-topper.
In December, the rapper announced that she and her husband, Offset, had gone their separate ways after six years of marriage. Days later, this on-again-off-again twosome found themselves back together while bringing in the new year. The “Drip” rapper shared what went down on the last day of 2023 on social media, as reported by PEOPLE. But if you’re thinking this hip-hip power couple is back together, think again.
Cardi B peeled back the layers during a now-expired Spaces livestream on X (formally known as Twitter) and admitted that she and her estranged hubby reconnected while at a nightclub in the 305 and got more than a simple greeting.
“I want to be clear to you guys because you guys are making your assumptions and I just wanted you to hear it from the horse’s mouth. Was I clubbing with my baby father yesterday? Yes. Did I got d- – – ed down yesterday? Absolutely, baby.”
From “vibing” to having “a good time,” the couple briefly put their marital issues aside.
“We was both in the same club and it was just really awkward. Like, I’m in my section, he’s in his section,” she said. “So it’s like, ‘Man, just f—ing come over here. Let’s just chill. We’re having a good time.’”
Still, Cardi B acknowledges that one night of passion is not enough to mend their strained relationship.
“I feel at the point of where we at in our relationship — we’ve been together for seven years, we’ve been married for seven years — I don’t consider that we’re back together,” she explained. “The answer to getting back together is not a good night at the club and f—ing the night long. We need to work on our s—, we need to work on our communication, there’s things that he needs to work on, there’s things that I need to work on.”
While she revealed they are not currently living together, they are in couples counseling to work on their marriage.
“If it goes well, then we will be back together. If it doesn’t go well, then it doesn’t go well, but I always want to keep the healthy relationship.”
The rappers exchanged vows in 2017 and have welcomed two children: daughter Kulture, 5, and son Wave, 2. He is also a dad to three more children from previous relationships.
This is not the first time the couple has broken up. Back in Dec. 2018, they called it quits after Offset was embroiled in cheating rumors, as reported by E! News. A month later, Cardi B confirmed they were repairing their relationship.
However, the “Up” rapper filed for divorce in 2020, as cited by E! News. But less than two months later, she called it off.
The year is just now getting underway, so there are still 11 more solid months to see how this separation saga continues to unfold.
