Taylor Swift has officially been dethroned from Billboard’s #1 spot by upcoming rap superstar Cardi B.
But though it may seem that new queen of the charts came out of left field, Cardi has actually been working her way up through the ranks for years — from the strip club to reality TV.

The Bronx-born bombshell is currently worth between $4 and 5 million.
Born Belcalis Almanzar, Cardi made waves on VH1’s fan favorite ‘Love & Hip Hop New York’ when she joined in 2015 for season six.
Cardi was well-known before the show ever became a part of her resume, however. Becoming a stripper at age 19 in NYC, Cardi became a local celebrity of sorts. By 2013, her social media presence began to grow — and didn’t seem to stop (she currently has over 10M instagram followers).

Her unmatchable personality is decorated with a no-holds-barred sense of humor, vivacious laugh and quick catchphrases — the perfect recipe for a social media superstar.
Cardi made her debut into music in November 2015 on the remix to Shaggy’s ‘Boom Boom.’
She released her own mixtape called "Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1.” the following March, and its follow up (aptly) titled “Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 2” in January 2017.
Cardi B signed to Atlantic Records in February 2017 and watched her hard work pay off this May when she was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the 2017 BET Awards.
The rapper stirred up a buzz across all music circles with he release of ‘Bodak Yellow’ in June, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 September 25, 2017.
And though no one can say for sure what’s next for the rapper/songwriter/media personality/video star, we’d be willing to bet that her net worth will rise just as quickly as she did on the charts.
