During the Oscars in 2019, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga took to the stage to perform Shallow, one of the hit songs from A Star is Born.
Being the biggest awards ceremony in film, millions of viewers at home saw their intimate performance with the two cosying up together as they duetted the emotional tune.
Romance rumours immediately spread across social media, with fans of the movie and beyond convinced their on-screen chemistry continued when the cameras weren’t rolling.

Directed by Bradley, the film ended up being nominated for best picture, though ultimately lost out to Green Book which BlacKkKlansman director Spike Lee hilariously said wasn’t his “up of tea” after the win.
After months of silence from Bradley and Gaga, the two opened up about their rumoured romance.
When the rumours first started to fly across the internet, it wasn’t long before the two stars were asked about a potential connection.
For a while, both Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga remained quiet on the matter, though the pair opened up during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel in 2019.
Bradley said: "Yes, people saw love and – guess what – that's what we wanted you to see.”
Referencing their performance of Shallow, Gaga added: "I knew that [Bradley] had the vision for how it should go."
In a 2019 interview with Elle, the House of Gucci actress rejected the rumours, saying: "Quite frankly, I think the press is very silly.
“I mean, we made a love story. For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love.
"And we wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on."
Later, in a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Hangover actor opened up about the performance.
Bradley explained: "Just from a personal standpoint, it reduces the anxiety level.
“They kind of fall in love in that scene in the film. It's that explosive moment that happens to them on a stage in front of thousands of people…
“It would have been so weird if we were both on stools facing the audience."
At the time of A Star is Born’s release, Bradley was dating Russian model Irina shayk, though they eventually split in June, 2019.
Now, the actor is in a relationship with someone outside of the entertainment industry, top political aide Huma Abedin.
As for Gaga, she was engaged to Christian Carino until early 2019 and the breakup was confirmed by the singer in June of that year.
Now she is dating entrepreneur Michael Polansky, who is the executive director of the Parker Foundation, a philanthropic organisation that “aggressively pursues solutions to an array of entrenched problems impacting millions of people,” according to its website.
