Chances are if you were in a fit of rage every time Taylor Swift was shown cheering for her boyfriend during the Super Bowl, you probably aren’t going to check out Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) when it hits Disney+ soon. And that’s okay. Swift doesn’t need your eyeballs on her concert movie, which was released into theaters as part of an exclusive deal she struck with AMC. The result? Over $200M at the box office and the record for highest-grossing concert movie of all-time. Taylor Swift will be alright without you.
So what’s up with the “Her Version” stuff? Well, it’s Swift’s way of steering her fans away from material she doesn’t own that is in the hands of publishers she doesn’t work with anywhere. This version of the film includes the song “Cardigans” which wasn’t in the theatrical cut, along with other unique bells and whistles.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) will hit Disney+ a day early on March 14th. Don’t be shocked if this is an absolutely gigantic smash and the reason why a lot of people renew their subscriptions. Remember when Hamilton was on Disney+ and everyone was watching it? That could be small ball stuff compared to this.
