Emma Stone regrets calling Taylor Swift 'a–hole' at Golden Globes after joke backlash: 'What a dope' – Page Six

Emma Stone is feeling regretful.
The Oscar-winning actress has confirmed that while there’s no bad blood between her and her longtime friend Taylor Swift after her failed joke at the Golden Globes in January, she certainly won’t be poking fun at her pal again.
In a new interview with Variety alongside “Poor Things” director Yorgos Lanthimos, the 35-year-old said she was hit with backlash from Swifties after calling the “Cruel Summer” an “a–hole” backstage in January.
“I definitely won’t make a joke like that again,” Stone said. “Because I saw headlines that really pulled it out of context.”
“What a dope,” she added, pointing to herself.
The duo made headlines when their friendship was put on display on Jan. 7 after the “La La Land” star took home the Best Actress trophy for her role in “Poor Things.”
When the “Easy A” star’s name was announced as the winner, the “Wildest Dreams” singer and her friend Keleigh Sperry gave the actress a standing ovation.
“What an a–hole, am I right?” Stone joked backstage when asked about the pop star’s support.
“I’ve known her for almost 20 years, so I’m very happy she was there. She was also nominated tonight, so I’m very happy she was there — but what an a–hole.”
The pair have been close pals ever since their paths first crossed back in 2008 at the Young Hollywood Awards.
While they’ve remained tight-lipped about their friendship over the years, the duo have been spotted hanging out several times, including at the NYC premiere of Stone’s “Poor Things” in December.

And while “The Amazing Spider-Man” actress hasn’t offered up many details about her friendship with Swift, she told Vanity Fair in June that Swift has helped her secure tickets to her sold-out Eras Tour.
“I was lucky ’cause we’ve been friends for a really long time,” Stone said of the “You’re on Your Own, Kid” hitmaker.
“I’ve known her since we were 17 and 18, so she hooked me up, which was very nice ’cause I know those tickets are impossible to get.”
“She’s a wonderful friend. She blows my mind,” Stone added.
