Cardi B did it!
Cardi B’s “I Like It” has just reached the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart!!! She goes from #2 to #1. Down to #2 is XXXTENTACION’s “SAD!”, which everybody thought was going to repeat at #1 for a second consecutive week.
The race to #1 was neck and neck but Cardi B ended up winning it. By not a very large margin but won it she did in the end. OKURR!!!
“I Like It”, lifted from Cardi B’s “Invasion of Privacy” album, becomes her second Hot 100 #1 in less than two years (“Bodak Yellow” reached number one in October 2017). Cardi B is also now the first female rapper in history to have two #1s. Plus, the NYC raptress is also now the first female artist to score two number-one singles from a debut album since Lady Gaga did it with “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” in 2009!
This is huge! And I’m so happy because I’m too super obsessed with this song. And I think it will remain as obsessed during the entire summer. “I Like It” is so going to be my summertime jam!
In other news, Cardi B is already recording new music for her next project. And she’s also due to give birth this month.
