Liam Payne accused of biphobia over LP1 song lyrics as #liampayneisover trends on Twitter – Metro.co.uk

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Liam Payne is facing a fierce backlash over the lyrics to his new song Both Ways.
The song, about a girl who ‘likes it both ways’, appears on his new album LP1 – which, by the way, has been completely panned by critics.
He can be heard singing: ‘Sharing that body like it’s our last meal. One and a two and a three, that’s for real.’
Unsurprisingly, many slammed the fetishisation of female bisexuality and non-heterosexuality from a straight, cisgender male’s perspective on the track.
Flocking to Twitter, unimpressed users quickly got #LiamPayneIsOverParty trending on the platform.
One unimpressed user simply wrote: ‘Bisexual women do not exist for your pleasure.’
Meanwhile, another Twitter user explained: ‘Bisexual people do not exist to fulfil your fantasies and I thought that was clear, but straight white men never fail to amaze me.’

this is not an exploration of his sexuality nor is it him “dipping his toe in the water.” this is a gross fetishization of bisexuality and the experience of bi womxn and men. it is a crude, offensive, and downright abuse of power from white cis men. #liampayneisoverparty

liam fetishizing bisexuality is not him coming to terms with his own sexuality. liam being crude, offensive and also corny when talking about sex is just gross. there’s nothing to salvage. he’s done #liampayneisoverparty

One high profile critic was YouTuber Tyler Oakley, who shared the hashtag and said: ‘B***, I warned y’all years ago! lmao’

At the time of writing on 6 December 2019, #liampayneisoverparty was the second top London trend on Twitter, with almost 32k tweets posted by 8.20pm.
LP1, the dad-of-one’s debut album, is out today.
The backlash follows a similar response to the 2018 track Girls by Cardi B, Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX.

The track – which contained lyrics like: ‘Sometimes, I just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls, red wine, I just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls’ – was criticised for suggesting bisexuality is a phase.
Liam’s reps declined to comment on the backlash.
