Cardi B Facing Massive $50 Million Copyright Infringement Lawsuit in Texas – The Source Magazine

Hip-hop lawsuits have been a real thing lately. Now, two McAllen musicians are suing Cardi B and several others, claiming that their song was used without permission.
Here are the details: The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, names Cardi B, OG Parker, DJ Swanqo, Atlantic Records, Celebrity Booking Agency, and Warner Music Group as defendants. They are suing everybody.
Get this: the plaintiffs, Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, known as Kemika1956, allege that the defendants used their song “Greasy Frybread,” created in 2021 and featured in the FX series “Rez Dogs,” without permission. The lawsuit states, “Defendant Cardi B, along with other Defendants, has used the song in her new album without permission.”
Furthermore, according to the lawsuit, the defendants infringed on the copyright of “Greasy Frybread” by reproducing, distributing, and publicly performing it in Cardi B’s track “Enough (Miami).”
The document claims that Fraustro and Aguilar suffered “substantial damages,” including financial losses and irreparable harm to their artistic reputation and marketability.
The plaintiffs are asking for $50 million. Is a settlement coming? Who knows? Your guess is as good as ours.
