Travis Kelce scored a royally good time with Prince William over the weekend, when he met the latter backstage at the first night of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in London.
The Super Bowl champ, 34, said on Wednesday’s episode of the “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with big brother and former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, that the 42-year-old prince is “the coolest motherf–ker.”
“We don’t even know if we’re allowed to tell you guys,” said the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, noting that the royal — whose dance moves to “Shake It Off” went viral — was “was the coolest motherf–ker.”
The brothers noted they were unsure of the protocol for meeting a royal, and whether it was OK to, as Travis put it, “just be an American idiot and shake their hand.
“We wanted to be polite, especially on this side of the pond,” he continued.
“They said that because we weren’t at, like, an official royal event, we didn’t need to bow or curtsy,” said Jason. “But I did still address him as ‘Your Royal Highness.’”
Adding that he figured it’d be “hard to be a down to earth human being” as a royal, William and his elder kids, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte, “came off that way completely.”
The family was “very genuine” and “very cool,” echoed Travis, who joined his girlfriend on stage at the star-studded show later on in the weekend.
He and Swift, 34, took their relationship Instagram official over the weekend when the Grammy winner shared a selfie of the couple backstage with William, who was celebrating his birthday at the concert Friday, and his kids. Kate Middleton, who is undergoing cancer treatment, was not in attendance.
Back in 2013, the “Fortnight” singer — who announced earlier this month that the record-breaking tour will end in December — encouraged the prince to join her on stage as they sang “Livin’ on a Prayer” with Jon Bon Jovi himself, at a charity event at Kensington Palace.
“I don’t know if any other prince is doing that,” said Travis. “It seems like [other royals] like to sit back and the show is the show, but he was cool enough to be a part of it. But that just shows you how personable he is.”
Earlier Friday, the Royal Guard at Buckingham Palace played an instrumental rendition of “Shake It Off” in the run-up to the weekend of sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium. Swift will return to play the venue again five times in August.
