Cardi B Calls Out 'Opps' In Awards Speech – Hot97 – Hip Hop & R&B News

Cardi B’s much-anticipated sophomore album is set for a 2025 release, but the “WAP” rapper hasn’t stayed out of the spotlight. She’s been active with several high-profile collaborations and, along the way, has sparked a few rap beefs. At the 2024 Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards on June 21st, Cardi addressed these conflicts while accepting the Inspiration Award.
“I just want to say thank [you] Jason [Lee] so much for this award,” Cardi said. “I’m really my biggest critic and I always say this, ‘Nobody has it harder in the industry and in every genre than a female rapper, and I’m going to tell you why. You have to have the best verse. Not only that, you have to kill the charts. On top of that, your personal life has to be perfect, or then the opp b*tches are going to use that against you.’”

Though Cardi didn’t name her adversaries, many online speculated her comments were aimed at BIA or Nicki Minaj, or possibly both. She also addressed ongoing criticisms related to her husband Offset’s past infidelities.
“‘Your husband. Your husband.’ Shut up,” she retorted. “I make more money than all the n***s you’re fcking. So you know sometimes it is hard to be yourself. It is hard to want to push yourself into the music because sometimes I don’t like showing weakness in my music because, ‘You can’t see the pssy in me btch.’”
Cardi has never shied away from confronting her detractors. Earlier this year, she declared she was done with feuding on songs or social media and would rather settle disputes physically.
“I’m done with bitches. I’m done with the arguing. If anybody want to see me, they can fight me. I got short nails now so if anybody got an issue with me, they can link up and they can fight me. But I’m not going back and forth no more with no bitch on Instagram, on social media, on records, nothing.
“That shit been for six years already. And guess what? No matter if I’m right or wrong, I’ll always look like the villain. But y’all need to leave me alone. Leave me alone. I’m not even being cocky about my accomplishments. I can really shit if I wanted to.”
Cardi’s recent conflicts include a notable spat with BIA and a long-standing feud with Nicki Minaj.
