Taylor Swift is still only beginning to promote her new album, The Tortured Poets Department. The full-length’s current single “Fortnight” with Post Malone is slipping on a handful of rankings, but it’s also on the rise on some of Billboard’s radio lists. As that track continues to climb (and fall), another one of the singer’s most unexpected hits so far this year is strangely still holding on.
“Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” finds space once again on the Adult Contemporary chart. The airplay tally ranks the tunes that rack up the largest number of total audience impressions across all reporting stations in the U.S. that focus on a style of pop known as adult contemporary.
This week, “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” sits at No. 29 on the chart. It’s a non-mover from last time around, sitting in the second-to-lowest position on the ranking.
“Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” is not a quick hit on the Adult Contemporary chart, nor is it new to the list. The song has now spent a dozen frames somewhere on the ranking. That wouldn’t be strange for a single from Swift…but it doesn’t appear that the title was ever promoted to that honor.
Swift shared “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” in late 2023, but it was seemingly never selected as a proper single. The tune was featured on her most recent re-release, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), and though it was a hit on some tallies, it’s odd to see it continue to do so well on a radio list.
Usually, songs don’t reach Billboard’s radio tallies unless they are being promoted as proper singles. It’s not unheard of for a superstar to earn a new win on one or two lists for a short time, if programmers decide to focus on any new music from a famous face. But the fact that “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” has now lived on the Adult Contemporary chart for 12 weeks is certainly odd.
“Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” isn’t even Swift’s only hit on the tally at the moment. She currently claims four spaces on the list, which is itself unusual. Sometimes major players in the music space can fill more than one rung, but to lead a quartet of simultaneous radio wins is quite the show of dominance.
Joining “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” on the Adult Contemporary chart are three other cuts from Swift, which all rank much higher–and they’re all steady this time around. “Cruel Summer” sits at No. 2, “Anti-Hero” keeps at No. 5, and “Fortnight” is comfortable at its No. 13 high point.
