Anfield has a new record attendance, but it's been set by Taylor Swift as she wipes out the previous best set by Liverpool Football Club back in 1952.
The singer announced live on stage during her first of three shows at Anfield that a new attendance record had been set, leading to a huge cheer from the 62,000+ 'Swifties' inside the stadium. The exact total wasn't announced, but it must have exceeded the previous record of 61,905 – set on Feb. 2, 1952.
During Thursday's "Eras Tour" show at Anfield, Swift said: "So, I just want to say, those things mean the world to us getting to play this show for people who would go so far above and beyond for us and welcome us to Liverpool in such a fashion. We love you so much and, you know, while I was walking to the stage, they pulled me aside and told me another thing you did for us tonight.
"And that thing is that you, you broke the all-time attendance record for this stadium tonight. Don't you just love knowing there's never been as many people in this room as there are right now? I, personally, love that feeling."

The record is slightly misleading, as thousands of fans gathered on the field after purchasing standing tickets with more space on offer than during Liverpool games. However, it was still the highest number of people Anfield has hosted at one time, so Swift has another record to add to her list.
It was also a record shared by Jurgen Klopp, who returned to Anfield to watch the concert with wife Ulla. The former Liverpool boss waved goodbye to Anfield on May 19 but returned less than a month later to watch Swift and enjoy a beer in the stands.
It was the first time that Swift had ever performed in Liverpool but the singer seemed extremely excited and was grateful to the fans that braved the English rain to wait in line. "Liverpool, welcome to the Eras Tour," Swift added on stage. "This is my very first time getting to play a show in Liverpool and, already I'm so excited.
"What you've already done here is crazy because it's been raining all day, you have braved the rain, you came here with, ready to like drape yourselves in plastic. You've been standing here. You've been ready for the show. I know a lot of you traveled a far distance to get to this show, right?"
Some fans were seen waiting in line at 5 a.m. local time, despite the stadium doors not opening until 6 p.m. later that day. Swift's influence is huge and she has a dedicated fanbase, something that's been reflected in her tour sales.
Over 4.3 million tickets were sold during Swift's "Eras Tour", making it the highest-grossing tour ever in history. Over $1 billion has been made in gross sales, a figure that no other artist has ever reached.
In addition to breaking the Anfield attendance record, Swift has also made history at Seattle's Lumen Field, New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium, Arlington's AT&T Stadium, Sao Paolo's Allianz Parque, Nashville's Nissan Stadium, and Melbourne's Cricket Ground. Swift's final show will be on Dec. 8, giving her another six months to break even more records.
