In the words of Taylor Swift herself, Charissa Thompson would like some fans to “calm down” over the credit chatter surrounding the pop superstar’s romance with Travis Kelce.
During Thursday’s installment of the “Calm Down” podcast co-hosted with Erin Andrews, Thompson called out those who are taking the idea that the Fox Sports personalities played matchmaker to Swift and Kelce, both 34, too seriously.
“I don’t know why I’m having any sort of effort or energy put toward this,” Thompson, 42, began. “Do you guys not understand that we don’t take it seriously about the setting up Taylor and Travis thing, it’s become a running joke, OK,. We never, ever have claimed or declared — yes, we do it tongue-in-cheek because he’s the one that said originally that he owes us big time — it’s now a joke, you guys need to f–king calm down.”

Over the summer, Andrews and Thompson suggested on their podcast that Swift give Kelce a chance after his attempt to give her a friendship bracelet at an Eras Tour stop in Kansas City didn’t pan out.
Shortly after Swift attended her first Chiefs game in September, the same month she and Kelce were first linked, Thompson re-shared the clip of her and Andrews hyping the three-time Super Bowl champion on Instagram.
“Just saying … @erinandrews & I recorded this episode back on August 3rd @killatrav @taylorswift @calmdownpodcast,” Thompson wrote in early October, to which Kelce replied, “You two are something else!! I owe you big time!!”
When Andrews asked what Thompson saw that prompted her remarks Thursday, the latter replied, “Just like comments, you know what I mean when people are like, ‘Oh, I love that these two are taking credit for setting them up,’ … I’m like, you guys, relax, it has become a joke and by the way, Travis is in on the joke, that’s the whole thing, so, for any of you that are making comments like we are actually taking credit, relax, we aren’t. We are team her, we love him and we’re happy that they’re happy.”
Thursday’s comments from Thompson following her recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” in which she and Andrews, 46, playfully leaned into the Kelce-Swift set-up chatter.
In addition to Andrews and Thompson, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes also suggested that he played matchmaker to Swift and Kelce.
The couple continues to dominate headlines this offseason, with Kelce venturing to Europe last month to support Swift on the international leg of her Eras Tour.
