In the United States, Taylor Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department has proved unbeatable ever since it arrived. Several well-known musicians have attempted to unseat her atop the Billboard 200, but so far, failed to do so.
The same can’t be said about her performance in the U.K. The Tortured Poets Department was recently ousted from the highest rung on the ranking of the most-consumed albums in that country. Now, after a short break away from the throne, Swift and her blockbuster are back in charge.
The Tortured Poets Department returns to No. 1 on the U.K. albums chart. The set lifts from No. 2 to the highest space, earning a fourth non-consecutive stint ahead of every other title.
Last week, Billie Eilish was able to push Swift out of the spotlight. The Grammy and Oscar winner’s latest full-length Hit Me Hard and Soft opened at No. 1, bringing the superstar back to the top spot. In its second frame on the tally, that new release slides to No. 3.
Separating Swift and Eilish is Clancy, the new album from Twenty One Pilots. The alternative duo made a push to reach the No. 1 space, but they were unable to do as Eilish had and best The Tortured Poets Department.
As The Tortured Poets Department rises on the U.K. albums tally, all of Swift’s other charting titles do the same. The singer-songwriter claims nine spaces on the ranking of the most popular albums and EPs in the country, which is huge, considering the list only features 100 rungs. All nine of her releases step up from where they sat last time around.
In the U.S., the highest two spots on the Billboard 200 look exactly as they did last week. The Tortured Poets Department rules for a sixth consecutive frame. Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft is forced to settle for the runner-up slot for a second turn.
