Morgan Wallen rules the Hot 100 this week thanks to his new collaborative single with Post Malone. The two teamed up on “I Had Some Help,” which became an instant smash. The song opens at No. 1 on the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., and once it arrived in first place, it helped the featured star make history.
“I Had Some Help” is not just new to the highest rung on the Hot 100. It also debuts at No. 1 on several other lists, such as the Digital Song Sales, Streaming Songs, and, most importantly—when looking at his chart accomplishments—the Hot Country Songs list.
Wallen has now seen two songs reach the No. 1 spot on both the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts. That’s actually a fairly rare accomplishment, as the all-genre ranking of the top songs in the nation isn’t frequently ruled by country music.
According to Billboard, Wallen is just the sixth musician to send a pair of tracks to the throne on both charts. He joins fellow artists like Glen Campbell, John Denver, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, and Taylor Swift, who have all managed the same feat with at least two winners on both lists.
Wallen earned his debut champion on the Hot 100 just last year. Amazingly, both of his leaders on the most important songs chart in the U.S. debuted in first place. That is its own impressive showing, and one that speaks to his immense popularity.
Last March, Wallen’s “Last Night” debuted atop the Hot 100, marking his first champion on the tally. That song went on to rule for 16 weeks, breaking the all-time record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 on the list for any leader by an unaccompanied soloist.
While Wallen doubles his total number of champions on the Hot 100, Malone has collected several more No. 1s. He’s accrued half a dozen chart-toppers throughout the past several years, including one that added to this total very, very recently.
Malone debuted a new single in first place on the Hot 100 only about a month ago. He joined Taylor Swift on her song “Fortnight,” the lead cut from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department. That tune launched ahead of every other cut—most of which were by Swift at that time—in early May. It controlled the roster for two frames before stepping down. Now, it appears at No. 8, giving Malone a pair of top 10s at the moment.
