It’s time to celebrate tequila! National Tequila Day (yes, it’s a real holiday) is on July 24, and tons of stars have invested their money into the spirit.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson launched Termana Tequila in 2020, and within three years he sold over 2 million 9L cases of the booze.

“I’ve always loved tequila and wanted to create a brand that is rooted in responsible sourcing,” the Johnson exclusively told Us Weekly in his August 2022 cover story. “I love that the tequila brings people together, it’s brought me close to everyone I work with and drinking tequila is such a social activity, so it’s a product I’m happy to put out into the world.”

After the success of Betty Buzz, Blake Lively launched her ready-to-drink beverages Betty Booze in 2023. The tequila options include an Oak Smoked Lemonade, Lime Shiso and Smoky Pineapple.

Married couple Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, who share three children, celebrated their first Cinco de Mayo since cofounding Pantalones Organic Tequila in May 2024. They declared that their brand is the Official Tequila of Pickle Ball and spring cleaning — which they showed off in a pantsless ad.
“We’re precious about our tequila, not our pants,” the couple said in a statement at the time. “With the explosion in popularity of tequila, there’s a level of snootiness that’s crept into the category. People now talk about tequila the way they talk about wine. While we’re all for being passionate about tequila, we wanted to remind people that, above all, it’s meant to be fun. That’s where the name Pantalones came from and that’s why you won’t see us wearing any.”

Mark Wahlberg is a principal investor in this tequila, launched in 2020 by golfer Abraham Ancer and entrepreneur Aron Marquez. “I am always looking for great business opportunities to invest my time and energy. When I was approached by Abraham and Aron, we immediately connected, and I knew that I wanted to partner with them to help build Flecha Azul into a global brand," the actor said in a statement in January 2022.

Kendall Jenner launched 818 Tequila, named for her California phone area code, in 2021 with three varieties: blanco, reposado and añejo. "For almost 4 years I’ve been on a journey to create the best tasting tequila," the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum revealed via Instagram in February 2021. "After dozens of blind taste tests, trips to our distillery, entering into world tasting competitions anonymously and WINNING ... 3.5 years later I think we’ve done it!"
Jenner later launched 818 Reserve, recognizable for its white eight-shaped bottle.

This tequila, which boasts a name that is a portmanteau of the Spanish words for five and gold, was founded by NBA legend and team owner Michael Jordan. The former pro athlete launched the brand in September 2019 along with four other NBA team owners — Jeanie Buss, Wes Edens and Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck as well as his then-fiancée Emilia Fazzalari — who all bonded over tequila during a dinner in New York City. Cincoro, which is described as a "super-premium" label, has four tequilas — a blanco,  reposado, añejo and extra añejo. Prices for bottles start at $72 and can run as high as $1,500.

This brand was founded in 2018 by brothers Maurice Tebele and social media influencer Elliot Tebele, as well as their childhood friend Martin Hoffstein, with the mission of creating a fun, modern and authentic luxury tequila. The JAJA team now includes Alex Pall and Drew Taggart of the DJ duo The Chainsmokers, who are co-owners of the company. All of the products in JAJA’s portfolio — blanco, reposado and añejo tequilas — are produced using slow, non-industrial methods at a heritage distillery. Additionally, the facility is led by a group of distillers who have over 50 years of experience in the industry.

Though not a straight tequila, this pre-made beverage, which was cofounded by Pretty Little Liars alum Shay Mitchell, is a premium canned sparkling tequila crafted with blanco tequila from Jalisco, Mexico. The drink, which debuted in July 2020, also uses real fruit juice and comes in two flavors – grapefruit and lime. It boasts 5 percent ABV, 100 calories and zero sugars and carbs. "Tequila soda is hands down my favorite drink and I’m really excited about the opportunity to create a beverage brand that is rooted in quality and shared experiences," the actress said in a press release.

This tequila brand was founded by Johnson in March 2020 and is billed as an ultra-premium, highlands tequila crafted in a small town in Jalisco, Mexico. The Titan Games host frequently talks about Teremana on his social media accounts and has filmed a series of cocktail-making tutorials on his Instagram account. The spirit has even found a way into many of the star's famous cheat meals, via things like tequila-soaked coconut chips and maple syrup infused with tequila.

Nick Jonas and fashion designer John Varvatos teamed up to launch this tequila in August 2019 after being inspired to create a spirit following a vacation to Mexico together. "Unlike other tequilas, #VillaOne uses 100% blue weber agave from both the highland and the lowland regions of Jalisco giving unique character and a distinctively smooth finish," Jonas said in an Instagram post announcing the venture at the time. "We're incredibly proud of this product we've worked so hard on and hope you guys love it too."

Breaking Bad costars Paul and Cranston launched this mezcal — an agave-based liquor, like tequila — in July 2019. Though some fans were disappointed that the spirit, which was teased on social media prior to its launch, wasn't a Breaking Bad-related project, consumers seem to like the libation. In a July 2020 Instagram post marking the brand's first anniversary, Paul wrote: "Thank you. All of you. For making the @doshombres dream a reality ... It’s been an incredible year and we’re just getting started. Stay safe, stay healthy and salud!"

Singer Rita Ora is a shareholder and creative director of this brand, which is produced at the Don Roberto Distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, by Stella Anguiano. According to Próspero's website, it is "made by women, for women" and was founded in April 2019. "This has been one of my favorite projects to work on," Ora said in a statement.

Singers Adam Levine and Sammy Hagar launched Santo Mezquila — a mezcal-tequila blend — in 2017. They were inspired to create the drink, which is the first of its kind, after vacationing together in Mexico and combining the spirits on their own. "It’s taking tequila to another level. When you blend the two you get a higher spirit, a brand new taste," Hagar told USA Today in February 2017. "We've invented a new product."

AC/DC created this brand in 2016 shortly after launching their own beer and wine. The band joined forces with Fabrica de Tequilas Finos to create three distinct tequilas — silver, reposado and añejo.

Diddy acquired this brand in November 2014 along with beverage giant Diageo, which previously partnered with the rapper on his super successful Ciroc vodka label. The acquisition came after the Grammy winner badmouthed Patrón — one of DeLeón's chief competitors. "I want to touch everybody with some smoothness, so that when you drink tequila, you don’t make that ugly face," Diddy told Forbes at the time.

Justin Timberlake first launched this tequila in 2009, but joined the big leagues in 2014 when he relaunched his spirit of choice with Sauza Liquors. Now known as Sauza 901, the triple-distilled liquor consistently receives solid customer reviews and is often lauded for its smooth quality. “I have spent the last several years creating a premium brand that captures the passion I have for tequila,” the "Say Something" singer explained in a statement on the brand's website.

Perhaps the best-known celebrity tequila brand, this label was founded by George Clooney and his pal Rande Gerber in 2013 and began as a spirit that the duo could enjoy with their friends and family. Though Clooney and Gerber never intended to take the company public, it was sold to Diageo in June 2017 for an estimated $1 billion, including incentives based on Casamigos' performance. The tequila is as popular as ever and boasts celebrity fans such as Molly Sims and Lisa Rinna.

Country singer Toby Keith crafted his own mezcal in 2011. "I have always been fascinated with Mexico and the drink mezcal. It is a part of my life," the "Should've Been a Cowboy" crooner said in a statement at the time. "I believed there was a complete void in the market place in getting this drink to the average person, so it seemed natural for me to start a business selling Toby Keith Mezcal."

Country star Jon Wolfe created his Juan Lobo tequila brand after touring the United States for years in search of the perfect tequila. "It really started over eight years ago with a nickname. My fans in South Texas affectionately gave me the nickname, Juan Lobo, which is my name in Spanish. I always thought it would be a great name for a brand of some kind someday, but didn’t perceive it to be a tequila brand," he told Digital Journal in June 2020. "The convergence of my love for tequila and my love for that nickname became the birth of Juan Lobo Tequila." The spirit is made of 100 percent pure blue agave and is distilled in copper pots for the ultimate taste.
