Missy Elliott has co signed “Like What”, the recently released freestyle by Cardi B which samples Missy’s 1999 hit “She’s A Bitch”. Timbaland, the producer of “She’s A Bitch” posted a crown emoji on IG, and Missy shared the single’s cover art and several heart emoji’s in response.
Cardi’s video for “Like What” dropped on Friday (3/1) and was produced by Offset. Missy replied to several posts regarding the freestyle over the weekend, replying to one Twitter user who posed the question: “Do these children really not know that it’s a freestyle to Missy Elliot’s song?” Missy replied to the user: “Yes the ones before my era taught us as well.”
Missy Elliott made history last year as the first female rap artist inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Missy joined a growing number of Hip-Hop artists who’ve been inducted into the Rock Hall, including Eminem, who was inducted in 2022. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5, 2Pac, Run DMC, N.W.A., Jay-Z, LL COOL J, The Notorious B.I.G, Public Enemy, and Beastie Boys have also been inducted.
