They say opposites attract and that most definitely seems to apply to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce who definitely didn’t bond over the one thing Kelce is most known for!
“She wasn’t into sports,” Kelce revealed during an April 10 episode of his “New Heights” podcast that he co-hosts with older brother and fellow NFL star Jason Kelce. The Kansas City Chiefs tight-end joked that he has no idea how he managed to win Swift over without having this key shared interest.
Luckily, the brothers’ guest, rapper Lil Dicky, had a valid explanation for the couple’s union, telling Kelce: “Well you did it because you called her out on a multimedia platform.” The rapper is, of course, referring to Kelce and Swift’s relationship origin story that began when he told his podcast listeners, back in July 2023, that he tried to give the singer his number at a recent concert.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce, 34, said on his podcast at the time, explaining that he had planned to deliver a personalized bracelet to Swift, 34.
“If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it.”
On the April 10 podcast, Kelce joked that he knew “exactly” what he was doing by shouting the Bad Blood singer out. He also gushed about his appreciation for the Swifties, his girlfriend’s loyal fanbase.
“It’s fun, man,” Kelce said. “I’m having a blast in life, baby. Just flying high. Enjoying it all.
“[We’re] bringing new lives to the football world and opening the football world up to new things as well,” he continued.
Kelce and Swift first publicized their relationship in September 2023, when made a surprise appearance to watch one of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games. Since cheering him on all the way to his Super Bowl win, the couple have continued to capture fans hearts as Kelce joined Swift for her Eras Tour in Australia before they both jetted off on a private couple’s vacation in early April.
