Cardi B is seemingly walking back her recent statements about the LAPD accusing her of drug trafficking, Billboard reports.
In an official statement, Cardi B’s team said that her remarks on Instagram Live were “taken out of context.”
“This IG live was taken out of context and there is no truth to this story. Apologies for any confusion,” the entire statement reads.
During an Instagram Live on Monday (March 25), Cardi B shared that she was ‘stopped by the law enforcement’ in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 24).
“They thought I was trafficking fentanyl, and they thought I had a gun in my car, so they stopped me and everything,” she said. “All the helicopters in L.A., they was outside. Yo, I was freaking out.”
“’They had me outside for like, three hours. They had me getting butt naked outside, s**t was crazy. It was deada** a movie and whatever, but you already know,” she continued.
In response to the alleged incident, Cardi said that she might sue the LAPD over how she was targeted and mistreated.
Although the allegations were levied at the LAPD, sources from the department informed The Daily Beast that they have “no record of contact with Cardi.”
“At the moment, we don’t have any information as to what she’s alleging,” a spokesperson for LAPD Media Department said.
“The LAPD has no record of contact with Cardi B,” LAPD detective Meghan Aguilar said in an email.
Additionally, sources told TMZ that there was no documented evidence of the incident Cardi described and that “if something as dramatic as what she described happened, it’d be documented.”
