NBA legend Charles Barkley has come to defend singer Taylor Swift for the recent criticism she faced. The incident happened when Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce, was playing in that game and Swift came in to show her support for her boyfriend. Swift’s presence at the game drew some negative comments from a group of NFL fans who felt that her popularity somehow diminished the game and blamed her for the loss of that game.
Charles Barkley the legend has stepped in to defend Swift. During a recent interview on CNN, he called out these fans, “If you yell at T-Swift for losing, you’re just a loser jackass!” This unexpected alliance between sports has drawn the attention of fans.

Barkley’s reaction suggests that the comments that were made by the fans are unfair and likely contributed to the team’s disappointing loss that happened. Swift’s defence highlights the misconceptions celebrities sometimes get, even in unrelated situations of the game.
This is not the first time Barkley has made comments about Swift. In 2019, he made headlines when he said he didn’t know who Taylor Swift was. His stance for Swift has evolved. However, he is now willing to defend her from fans of the game.
Though not teammates, Barkley, the retired NBA legend and current commentator, and Kelce, a star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, have an incredible relationship that all boils down to a crush. In fun, Barkley revealed that he once wanted to change his name to Travis after being inspired by a cool senior in high school. Travis Kelce said that he had idolized basketball player Charles Barkley as a kid and wanted to be called “Charles Kelce” as a light-hearted joke.

This desire to change names may seem ridiculous, but it underscores the respect the two players have for each other. Kelse grew up idolizing Barkley’s talent and tenacity on the court. Barkley, while initially unaware of Kelce’s praise, recently praised the tight end’s skills, calling him “great” after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory in February.
