Cardi B is making up for lost time. Earlier this month, she gave us “Like What (Freestyle),” her first solo single in more than three years, and today she’s back with another new song, “Enough (Miami).” The tracks are very much of a piece, as Cardi uses this latest jam to once again spit venom at unnamed adversaries.
Produced by OG Parker, Romano, and DJ SwanQo, “Enough (Miami)” has a cool and spacious digital trap sound that does little to distract from Cardi’s spitting. In the opening lines, Cardi laughs at the idea of being compared to certain other MCs.
Later in the verse, Cardi nods to Dr. Seuss—game recognizing game—and scoffs at those who travel less luxuriously than she does.
In the chorus, Cardi rolls her eyes at her rivals who are making music together. As Genius user @cantstopthebeet points out, this could be a reference to Cardi’s longtime foe Nicki Minaj forming an alliance with JT of City Girls. Cardi then indicates she’s ready to rumble by referencing Crime Mob’s 2004 classic “Knuck If You Buck.” She even shouts out Crime Mob member Diamond.
In the second verse, Cardi lowers her guard and heads to the party. Her description of how she’ll react to various amounts of alcohol recalls That Chick Angel, Casa Di, and Steve Terrell’s 2023 viral single “One Margarita (Margarita Song),” though Cardi may also be calling back to Lil’ Kim’s 2000 hit “How Many Licks,” which contains the line, “After three bottles, I’ll be ready to fuck.”
The end of the second verse seems to contain another diss aimed at Nicki Minaj, who released a song called “Regular Degular” in 2018.
“Enough (Miami)” arrives with a music video in which Cardi rocks a bunch of elaborate outfits that don’t amount to much clothing.
