A New Orleans singer belted an intimate version of a Taylor Swift song on “The Voice” stage Tuesday, impressing coaches and landing a spot on John Legend’s team.
But Zoe Levert got an even bigger surprise when her audition came to a close: country superstars Dan + Shay grabbed a guitar and sang one of their hit songs as the 20-year-old contestant and her husband danced on stage.
“From the Ground Up” was song Levert and husband, Ryan Turner, picked to dance to at their wedding in Denham Springs, and the viral moment nearly brought coach Chance The Rapper to tears.
Chance even took out his own phone and recorded the moment as the happy coupled swayed to the lyrics.

“You better say Amen!,” Legend yelled as Dan + Shay serenaded the crowd.
Levert sang “Better Man (Taylor’s version),” which was written by Swift and first recorded by Little Big Town. Swift added her rendition to the re-release of her album, Red, in 2021.
Legend turned around at the last minute. Dan + Shay, Chance The Rapper, and Reba McEntire did not turn but praised Levert’s performance.
Levert is a singer-songwriter who often sings worship music at church and goes back and forth between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, according to her Instagram.
“MEANT TO BE,” Levert posted about Legend after her audition was released, along with the hashtag #GeauxZoe.
You can watch Levert progress on NBC’s “The Voice” on Monday and Tuesday nights.
