Cardi B and Atlantic Records sued for copyright infringement over recent single – The Mirror US

Grammy Award-winner Cardi B, her label, and two producers are being sued by two rappers who claim that her song ‘Enough (Miami)’ unlawfully samples their song ‘Greasy Frybread’
Cardi B is being sued for allegedly sampling a track without permission for her latest single.
The rapper released the song "Enough (Miami)" back in March. The single debuted in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was her 12th top-ten hit.
However, two rappers from Texas claim that the Bodak Yellow performer used portions of their song without authorization. In documents obtained by The Mirror, Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, who performs under the name Kemika1956, are suing the singer for copyright infringement, vicarious infringement, contributory infringement, unfair competition, and misappropriation.

The documents state that Cardi B, real name Belcalis Almánzar, and her team used portions of their song "Greasy Frybread" in her hit single. "Greasy Frybread" was used in the promo for the FX series Reservation Dogs and released three years prior to Cardi's "Enough (Miami)".
The music duo claims that their 2021 song was used without permission and "used for [the plaintiff's] own advantage," says the lawsuit. They also call for a "necessary" Temporary Restraining Order "to prevent further distribution and public performance of the infringing work."
Besides naming Cardi as a defendant the lawsuit also names producers OG Parker (real name Joshia Parker) and DJ SwanQo (real name James Steed) as liable. Also named are Celebrity Booking Agency, Atlantic Records, and Warner Music Group.
The lawsuit claims that the duo suffered "substantial damages," naming financial losses and irreparable harm to their reputations and marketability as musicians. Besides the Temporary Restraining Order, the documents call for "statutory damages", the cost of attorney fees, an order "to recall and destroy all infringing copies," and a declaration of the plaintiffs' ownership of the copyright to "Greasy Frybread."
It's unclear if this lawsuit will affect the release of Cardi's second album. She hasn't announced a release date for it yet but recently teased a new single that samples Janet Jackson's "Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun)." It's unclear if she got authorization for this song.
Cardi's first album, Invasion of Privacy, was released in 2018. It won Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards and according to The Recording Academy is the best-selling female rap album of the 2010s.
