Steven Soderbergh Is Developing a Project Inspired by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour – ComingSoon.net

Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is developing a project inspired by Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour.
Whether the mysterious, currently untitled project turns out to be a film or a television series remains to be seen; however, Soderbergh says that Taylor Swift’s The Era Tour — along with the Eras Tour concert film — served as a major inspiration.
He told Variety, “I have been thinking about a project in which I analyze large scale, cooperative endeavors that work. Airports. Why do airports work? Or AA? You look at the Taylor Swift concert, at this whole tour and it works. So why can’t we figure out Syria or any other conflict?
“…Humor is a great delivery system for an idea and nothing lights up the brain like music, so this project better be funny and there should be some musical component as a way to open people up. I want you to come out on the other side after you see it, and feel different.”
Soderbergh said he hasn’t seen Swift’s Eras Tour performed live, though he would if he were able to find tickets.
He further said of the popstar, “People laugh that there is a college class being taught about her and I go, ‘There should be.’ What she is doing, the way she is doing it… Nobody has ever done this before. The amount of control she has taken over. She is relentless.”
Soderbergh is known for directing movies such as 1989’s Sex, Lies, and Videotape, 2000’s Erin Brockovich, 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven, 2011’s Contagion, 2012’s Magic Mike, and 2017’s Logan Lucky, among others.
His latest film, Presence, premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival this past January. The movie, which is described as a psychological thriller, stars Lucy Liu, Julia Fox, and Chris Sullivan. A release date for Presence has not yet been set by Neon.
Additionally, he’s working on a spy thriller movie with Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender titled Black Bag.
