Biles stuns with best floor routine at Olympic trials.
Simone Biles, arguably the greatest gymnast of all time, has continually captivated audiences with her extraordinary performances in national and international competitions. However, she recently got one more accolade, which she surely didn’t expect: the sincere congratulations of Taylor Swift.
Biles is currently competing in the Olympic trials to secure a spot on the national team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On Friday the 29th, the Olympic gold medalist showcased a floor routine that left the audience in awe, earning her a score of 14.85 – the highest of the day.
As always, Biles’ performance was a perfect blend of athleticism and artistry, featuring complex moves and lively choreography set to “Ready for It,” one of Taylor Swift’s biggest hits. Swift, upon learning about this unexpected musical collaboration, couldn’t help but react.
While Biles was dazzling at the Olympic trials, Swift was captivating her own audience at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Yet, the news of Biles’ routine reached her, and she promptly took to social media to express her admiration.
“Watched this so many times and still unready. She’s ready for it tho,” Swift wrote in response to a video shared by NBC Olympics & Paralympics on X, formerly known as Twitter. She added several applause emojis, a medal, the US flag, and a heart to her message.
The video shows Biles beginning her routine with a snippet of “Ready for It.” Shortly after, she executed the triple double, the most challenging move in floor gymnastics, which has earned her numerous accolades. This remarkable jump, first performed by Biles in 2019, secured her place in gymnastics history and continues to be a testament to her incredible skill.
Though the official announcement from US Gymnastics is pending, it is almost certain that Biles has secured her spot on the team for the Paris 2024 Olympics, scheduled from July 27 to August 5.
During her recent performance, Biles was supported by her husband, Jonathan Owens, a safety for the Chicago Bears, and her mother, Nellie, both of whom have stood by her through the toughest moments of her career.
The Olympic champion is poised to make one of the most emotional comebacks in sports history. It’s worth recalling that Biles nearly withdrew from the 2020 Olympic Games due to mental health issues, which brought her close to retirement. Yet, she has returned with renewed vigor, aiming to add more titles to her already impressive collection.
Simone Biles’ choice to use one of Taylor Swift’s greatest hits for her floor routine has not only highlighted her performance but also garnered a touching response from Swift herself, showcasing the mutual admiration between these two icons of their respective fields.
