He compared the Chiefs to a Swift song on the New Heights Show
Travis Kelce‘s life has changed a lot since he started dating Taylor Swift, but the one area Kansas City Chiefs fans thought it would never affect is football. However, in the most recent New Heights Show podcast, Kelce made it obvious how his love for Swift has altered his love for football.
Travis, 34, went into detail on the ways that the Chiefs offense, run by himself and Patrick Mahomes, compares to playing the piano. His visual demonstration spoke to the “rhythm” of music representing the steadiness of a quarterback, while the unique “melody” comes from the way pass catchers like himself run routes.
“This is so Taylor coded,” said an account on X, formerly Twitter, commenting on his musical demonstration. Many responses noted that the two have learned a lot from each other in music and in football.
“Everybody’s melody can be different,” Travis said whimsically, before his big brother Jason snapped him back to reality.
“Well it can’t be that different,” the former Philadelphia Eagles center corrected, seeming to reference a famous miscommunication when Travis’ Chiefs beat Jason’s Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.
Swifties may have appreciated the musical explanation of football, but some NFL fans may not enjoy the way Kelce is dumbing down the sport for his new audience.
The influence Swift is having on Kelce is clear as day, but with the lofty expectations of the Chiefs and his massive contract, Andy Reid and Co. want to make sure that he keeps his head in the game.
