Lady GaGa’s newest single, which is arguably my favorite GaGa song, now has a Kubrick/Hitchcock inspired video. It’s like an “artsy” sophomore film student’s project, except it’s fun to watch.
GaGa is a curious girl, and she grows on you like one of her songs. I like her because she’s unabashedly putting on a show. She’s an entertainer. She costumes for almost every single day of her life, and never gives interviews about she’s “Oh so above it all.” She invited this, she sought after this, campaigned for it, probably did rain dances for “the fame.” Now that she’s got it, she’s welcomed all that it is, and she’s riding this fame monster for all that it’s worth. She’s also as loyal to her fans as they are to her, mentioning them every chance she gets to thank them. She says she goes broke on her shows to keep from ticket prices going too high.
Her music’s not really that great, but there’s something infectious about it you can’t shake off. However, it’s her kooky image I’ve grown to like even more. She dresses up all crazy to play with our imagination a little, to shake us up a bit. Some of them can be a bit unflattering, but most of them are interesting, or even beautiful. Even with her music, without her costumes, her wigs and her makeup, this girl would still just be a cute Italian girl name trying to gain some footing in her niche. Instead she’s already gained footing in your brain, like it or not.
