Taylor Swift's Eras tour is ending – The A.V. Club

Finally, Taylor Swift can get some well-earned rest. Since the Eras Tour officially kicked off last March, Swift has sold out hundreds of stadiums around the globe, caused a few earthquakes, debuted a record-breaking concert film, released two Taylor’s Version re-records, become the most talked about person in the NFL, won a bunch of Grammys, released a surprise double album, and then also put out what feels like a hundred variants of that album on top of it.
Finally, however, the pop star is ready for her touring era to be over—at least for now. At her concert in Liverpool last night—the 100th show of this tour—Swift announced something some of her fans probably never thought was going to happen: the Eras Tour is coming to an end. No more new dates, Ticketmaster battles, or 2025 surprise song livestreams. It’s actually, almost, over.
“A lot of you are like, ‘How are you going to celebrate the 100th show?’ And for me, the celebration of the 100th show… means this is the first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December, like that’s it,” Swift said in a speech to the crowd before introducing the 10-minute version of “All Too Well.” “That feels so far away from now, but then again, it feels like we just played our first show on this tour because you have made this so much fun for us,” she continued. “You have done so much to be with us… and I want to spend the hundredth show just thinking about that, and living in this moment with you, and being here with you.”
As much as Swift seems to have genuinely enjoyed this tour (she’s extended it multiple times), it also seems she’s more than ready for the breakup. “I think that this tour has really become my entire life,” she said in her speech. “Like, it’s taken over everything. I think I once had hobbies, but I don’t know what they were anymore.”
Presumably, she still has a little more work to do before getting back to those non-tour pursuits. Swift still has two albums in her re-record pipeline—Reputation and her self-titled debut—that fans assume she means to complete before the tour wraps up. In fact, many believed she would celebrate the 100th show (which also happened to be on the 13th of the month, her favorite number) by announcing Reputation (Taylor’s Version) last night. This, of course, led eagle-eyed Swifties to over-analyze things like website glitches and the necklace she was wearing but alas, to no avail. It’s okay, though; she still has six whole months—the equivalent of like six years in Taylor time—to make it happen.
