LOS ANGELES, CA – FEBRUARY 12: Musicians Josh Dun (L) and Tyler Joseph of Twenty One Pilots attend … [+]
Twenty One Pilots’ new album failed to return the band to the top spot on the Billboard 200 upon its arrival. The group’s just-released Clancy opens at No. 3 on the ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths in the country, as it couldn’t best the latest offerings from Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish.
While Clancy didn’t debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the title does reach the highest rung on several other charts. Twenty One Pilots might not have been able to top Swift and Eilish on one list, but they still managed to succeed in an impressive fashion and beat the competition on some format and genre-specific lists.
Clancy is new to three Billboard charts this week. The set brings the duo back to the No. 1 spot on all of those rosters, as the title proved to be a quick win for the Grammy-winning pair as it launches.
Twenty One Pilots score their second career No. 1 on this week’s Top Album Sales chart. That tally looks only at pure purchases, while the Billboard 200 also takes into account streaming activity. In its first frame of availability, Clancy was purchased by 113,391 fans, according to Luminate.
Over on the Top Rock Albums chart, Twenty One Pilots rule once more with Clancy. The just-shared project marks their fourth visit to the summit. Among all the tallies that the band dominates this time around, they’ve ruled this one the most.
Clancy also debuts atop the Vinyl Albums chart. The duo has reached the throne with three different collections, and they up that count once more this week.
In another frame, Clancy would have had a much better shot at ruling the Billboard 200, as the album performed very well in its first week. The set shifted 142,789 equivalent units in the first seven days it was available to buy or stream. That would normally be enough for it to clinch the top spot, but Swift and Eilish’s latest full-lengths proved too popular, even though neither of them are new to the Billboard 200.
