Taylor Swift has been named the winner of the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart once again this week. The superstar’s The Tortured Poets Department remains at No. 1 on the list of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. for a sixth consecutive frame. As the singer-songwriter rules, she denies another one of the biggest names in the music industry from the highest rung once again.
For the second week in a row, Billie Eilish is forced to settle for the runner-up spot on the Billboard 200. Her new album Hit Me Hard and Soft keeps at No. 2 for a second consecutive turn.
This week, The Tortured Poets Department manages to control the Billboard 200 again thanks to 175,000 equivalent units. That’s a huge sum for any project that’s been living on the list of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. for six weeks.
Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft is steady at No. 2 with 145,000 equivalent units moved. That’s down significantly from its debut frame, but it’s still a sizable figure for any effort’s second week on the Billboard 200.
Last week, The Tortured Poets Department blocked Hit Me Hard and Soft from bringing Eilish back to the summit on the Billboard 200. It marked the first time in the young talent’s career that one of her full-lengths failed to make it to No. 1 on the tally.
The Tortured Poets Department has been ruling the Billboard 200 ever since it arrived six weeks ago. It debuted atop the tally with more than 2.6 million equivalent units shifted. That marked one of the largest openings of all time, and since then, it’s been able to hold off the competition and keep Swift in charge.
In the six weeks it’s been ruling on the Billboard 200, The Tortured Poets Department has blocked some well-known stars in the music world from earning new No. 1s. In addition to Eilish—twice now—Swift has also fended off just-dropped projects from Gunna and Dua Lipa.
