Celebrities are just like us, in that they love to have their moms around! Quite a few actors have been known to bring their mothers as their dates to big red carpet events, and it’s pretty much the sweetest thing ever. In fact, the Oscars frequently feature mother-daughter and mother-son duos. Here are some major moments between A-listers and their mamas over the years.

The costume designer has been Keanu’s frequent red carpet date over the years, including the premieres of 2003’s The Matrix and 2006’s The Lake House and his 2005 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
Forty-five years after she was her mom’s date to the 1975 Oscars, Laura walked the red carpet with Diane by her side at the 2020 Oscars. Laura won for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Netflix’s Marriage Story — the same category that her mother was nominated for following her role in the 1974 film, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. The Big Little Liars star was 6 years old at the time and attended the ceremony with her mom in what would become a hugely impactful day. “I remember it being scary and overwhelming,” Dern recalled to Vanity Fair about that first mother-daughter Oscars date. “I also remember my mom feeling proud of herself and loving her work … and I remember thinking, ‘Whatever I do when I grow up, I want to really love my job and feel proud of it.’ I’ve never forgotten that.”
The pint-sized pop star gave her mom a big kiss at the 2020 GRAMMYs. Ariana’s father, Edward Butera, joined his famous daughter for her big night as well.

What a bombshell duo! Tyra and her mom have nearly identical smiles and fabulous looks. The two get along so well that the America’s Got Talent judge even wrote a book about it, Perfect Is Boring: 10 Things My Crazy, Fierce Mama Taught Me About Beauty, Booty, and Being a Boss, which they promoted together in 2018.

A couple of years later, amid the coronavirus pandemic, the actress found herself separated from her mother for eight months. Nicole and husband Keith Urban had been quarantining with their two daughters in the United States, where she now lives, and had been unable to reunite with her mother in her home country of Australia. She shared a photo when they were finally able to be together again, writing on Instagram, “Feels so good to be able to hug my mum!”
