Breaking records is nothing new to Taylor Swift, and she’s done it again with her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Spotify revealed on Friday, mere hours after the Grammy-winning singer dropped the album that Tortured Poets became the audio giant’s most-streamed album in a single day. Swift also became the most-streamed artist in a single day in Spotify history.
As the records continued to drop, it was later shared that the Tortured Poets was the first album in Spotify history to have over 300 million streams in one day. And the track “Fortnight” with Post Malone became Spotify’s most-streamed song in a single day.

The “Cruel Summer” singer’s newest records likely won’t come as a surprise to fans, as the audio streamer shared on Thursday, prior to the album’s release, that it became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in the history of Spotify.
Swift’s latest piece of work, which features 16 songs and collaborations with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine, takes fans on a journey of the stages of grief and heartbreak. After its release at midnight Friday, the singer-songwriter also surprised fans with an expansion of Tortured Poets, titled The Anthology, which includes 15 additional tracks.
In his review, The Hollywood Reporter‘s senior music editor, Mesfin Fekadu, wrote, “It’s clear songwriting is Swift’s specialty, and her new album features her superb storytelling. As she processes a breakup, the lyrics will hit you in the gut or smack you in the face — sometimes both on the same song.”
In addition, Swift now holds the top three spots on Spotify for the most-streamed albums in one day with The Tortured Poets Department, Midnights and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). She also broke her own record as the most-streamed artist in a single day, after previously achieving the title with the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in October 2023.
As for other music streaming platforms, Tortured Poets became the most-streamed album ever on Amazon Music on its first day. The album also broke the record for the biggest pop album of all time by first-day streams on Apple Music.
