Lady Gaga takes the stage as Harley Quinn in first JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX trailer – Comics Beat

Send in the clowns!
It’s hard to believe it’s been over five years since Joker, the dark reimagining of the iconic Batman villain, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character hit theaters garnering both critical acclaim and box office success. Moreover, the film earned At the 92nd Academy Awards, the film earned 11 nominations at the 92nd Academy Awards (including Best Picture), winning Best Actor for Phoenix and Best Original Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir. So it didn’t surprise many that Warner Bros. greenlit a sequel titled Joker: Folie à Deux.
Back for the ride is director and co-writer Todd Phillips along with Phoenix (naturally) as well as actress Zazie Beetz reprising her role as Sophie Dumond. Joining the film is musician and actress Lady Gaga playing the iconic character of Dr. Harleen Quinzel, the Joker’s frequent paramour better known as Harley Quinn. Also joining the cast in indisclosed roles are Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung and Harry Lawtey.
Today during its CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. debuted the first Joker: Folie à Deux trailer.

Per Variety, the film is expected to be “mostly a jukebox musical,” as it integrates at least 15 reinterpretations of “very well-known” songs. In fact the Joker: Folie à Deux trailer integrates the Sammy Davis Jr. and Tom Jones cover version of the song “What the World Needs Now Is Love.” If Barbie last summer proved anything it’s that moviegoers are quite keen for toe tapping good musicals these days.
Joker: Folie à Deux arrives in theaters on October 4

This is going to be so good.
