Cardi B is certified stylish.
The Hollywood Reporter released its annual list of the industry’s most powerful stylists on Wednesday, including Kollin Carter — and he and longtime client Cardi sat down with the outlet to share some of the “obstacles” involved in dressing the rapper’s curvy figure.
The duo posed for the cover of the “Power Stylists” issue in coordinating sleek black looks, with the “WAP” hitmaker, 31, in a strapless Dilara Findikoglu gown and long black gloves and her fashion guru wearing a Balenciaga turtleneck and pants.
While the rapper is known for her standout style, she told the Hollywood Reporter that finding clothing isn’t always easy.
“There are so many obstacles against us,” Cardi admitted. “For example, this body is not meant for a size 2. I’m very hips, ass, and that’s me.”
The “Drip” singer said that dressing her curvy figure “was not easy, but we make it look easy.”
“Our door was closed many times … but we’re here because we do it well,” she continued. “I’m not going to be humble about it.”
Carter added that their hard work has paved the way for other women in the industry and “caused a cultural shift.”
“I don’t think there were many women like Cardi who existed in the fashion space,” he told the publication. “Now there are a ton of other rap females who aspire to be in that space because they see what’s possible. We set trends.”

Carter also discussed Cardi B’s 2019 Met Gala gown designed by Thom Browne, which turned heads with its over-the-top train and landed the star on every best-dressed list that night.
“That look broke Cardi B into the next level of the fashion world. People who didn’t take us seriously were like, ‘OK, they’re here to stay,’” the stylist said.
As for her next bold red carpet moment, watch this space.
