Lady Gaga is celebrating 38 years this Thursday and we’re looking at some of her boldest shoe moments over the years.
Gaga may be just as well-known for her extreme, high-octane footwear choices as she is for her pop music. Since skyrocketing to fame in 2008, the singer and actress has displayed a love of statement shoes that some may shy away from wearing. A fan of platforms and bold embellishments, she’s not afraid to take a fashion risk.
Ahead, see Lady Gaga‘s best shoe moments, from skyrocket heels to towering platforms.
Lady Gaga wore black satin platform pumps by Amina Muaddi at the 2022 New York Film Critics Circle Awards on March 16, 2022. Dubbed the “Yigit” pumps ($1,099), the style boasts a pointed toe and an ankle-strap fastening. The soaring stiletto heel is 6 inches high while the sculptural platform sole measures 2 inches.
While in London doing press for “House of Gucci” in 2021, she sported head-turning black fishnet boots covered in strings of sparkly crystals and dangling charms. The flashy thigh-high boots were previously seen on the runway at Alexander McQueen’s spring 2022 fashion show.
Seen in New York City on July 1, 2019, the “Born This Way” hitmaker stomped out in Pleaser’s Beyond-1020 ankle boots ($121). The lace-up style, which comes in multiple colors, combines a whopping 10-inch heel with a 6.5-inch platform, guaranteeing the wearer will stand out.
For an appearance on “Colbert” in 2018, Gaga wore a pair of pointy, see-through pumps featuring crystal-adorned straps. The toe of the Magrit x Juan Vital “Cynthia” pumps was also covered in rhinestones.
In the Big Apple in 2017, Gaga showcased Sergio Rossi Sr1 ankle boots, which were designed with silver-tone stud embellishments throughout the black leather upper. A sleek square toe and silver metal logo plate adorning the vamp complete the boots.
After performing on “Saturday Night Live” in 2016, Gaga stepped out in Manhattan wearing a colorful pair of pink-and-purple platform boots from Marc Jacobs’ spring 2017 collection. The giant platform and equally massive block heel are covered in shimmery rainbow rhinestones.
At the 2015 British Fashion Awards, the “Bad Romance” singer styled her striking red dress with glossy red patent Giuseppe Zanotti “Super Sharon” pumps featuring a peep-toe silhouette and a towering stiletto heel measuring nearly 6 inches high.
Gaga showed off Thom Solo’s black patent “Dahlia” platform heels as she arrived at the Roseland Theater in New York City on April 2, 2014. The tall stiletto pumps featured a rounded toe adorned with a silk resin flower applique.
For the launch of her “Fame” perfume in Paris in 2012, the “Just Dance” singer donned velvety black Alberto Moretti platform pumps boasting a round toe and custom-designed heel made to resemble her perfume’s bottle.
Few Gaga fans will forget the time she wore Alexander McQueen’s iconic Armadillo boots to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The attention-grabbing python-print style debuted on the runway at McQueen’s spring 2010 show. A pair of the boots sold at Christie’s for over $65,000 in 2015.
